On the bushfires

People killed now counted at 178 and rising. It’s all just very sad.

It made sense to a Jewish mind in the first century to talk about the new creation as a place where “there was no longer any sea” (Revelation 21:1–the sea, you see, was seen as dangerous and threatening).

In February in Australia (a time when the sea comes in pretty handy) it is comforting to think that in God’s new creation there will no longer be any bush-fires.
